Hello,

a customer of mine is asking the following question:

"I am interested in a buck boost controller for:

Wide Vin 10V-57V
Vout 12V
Iout 6A

It seems that LM5118 can fit. I played a bit in webench and it seems that it can’t find a design for 6A. only up to 5A. what is the reason for that?"

is there a device that can fit his design needs if the LM5118 doesn't ?

Hi Victor,

The main reason is the limitation of the Webench: limited parts library including the MOSFETs and inductors, and also the lack of support parallel MOSFETs.

I would not like to recommend the LM5118 for 6A load because of the huge power dissipation in the diodes. You may consider the LM5176, the four switch buck-boost controller.

Would the LM5176 work with Iout of 10A as well ?

As i understand form webench it should work.
