WEBENCH® Tools/WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER: Ambient temperature parameter

Part Number: WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZ31710, TPSM84824, LMZ31520

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

The Webench Power designer tool has option to specify Max Ambient temperature under Design Considerations section.

Can you please clarify the location where Ambient temperature has to specified with respect to the DC DC converter being analyzed (Example TPSM84824, LMZ31520, LMZ31710 module)?

Can we consider location as 10mm from the  Module top case ? or is there any other definition?

Also for estimation of junction temperature does the webench tool consider cooling environment as Natural convection or does it make any assumption with regard to Air flow?

For junction temperature estimation does it use the thermal metric, ΨJT (any assumptions made with respect to PCB/layers)?

Thanks

Louis
