BQ27546-G1: the chip Sealed after programming immediately

Hello Sir,

i want to know, if i program a new chip of BQ27546 with the srec file which is get from another battery(ever sealed). whether the new chip will be sealed immediately after programming? if I use df.fs file, the same (sealed status after programming)?

Hello Brandon,

The chip will enter seal state based on the previous srec state. You will need to use an unsealed srec if you need to change the chemistry and keep the gauge in non seal state.

thanks for your reply, that did work for my debug.

but, we used a mcu via i2c to update dataflash for the chips from 0x0000 to 0x0400. I referred the method about how to update DFI (this may be a old method). And i got the program file from my customer, it default to be sealed and QEN on. something strange happened, a few chips were sealed after the updating, while most did not. both of them were QEN on. so there is any risk on functions for these chips. I am sure the data in dataflash is complete.

It really depends on your flow. You may have sent the seal command potentially? Can you check that?

Thanks agian. I am sure I didn't sent the seal command(0x0020) directly. however what's the potential seal command? I have no idea about how to confirm it. And there only a few chips sealed after updating the DF. I guess (base on your reply), there will not be sealed for the chips for only update their DF? except, any potential seal command was sent ？ right？

Yes. Unless you are programming different srec files, there should be no reason that this srec loads sealed in some devices and loads unsealed in other devices.
