TI has many charger ICs that provide all the above features, such as battery level measurement or battery voltage tracking, ship mode, and Li-Poly battery protection. I want to select a charger chip that exhibits the lowest standby current and does all the things I stated above. This is because most of the time, the charger will be on standby. I want to minimize the current drawn of the product.

Hi Pragash,

For a small, 1S LiIon battery with 5V input voltage and low charge current, the linear regulator based BQ25150 might work for you.

If you need higher charge current and/or have higher input voltage for a 1S battery, then you need a switching charger. The BQ25896 is the best option at the moment.

If you have a 2S configuration and 5V input, then BQ25883 is an option.

Is BQ25150 is lower power than BQ25155? The only difference I can see between them is BQ25150 has unregulated supply whereas BQ25155 has regulated supply.

Hello,

There are a few differences between them.

1. The PMID pin on the BQ25155 is regulated and the BQ25150 has it unregulated.

2. VINDPM is disabled by default on the BQ25155

3. There is no IMAX pin on the BQ25155. The default ILIM on BQ25155 is 500mA

4. Shipmode wake timer on BQ25155 is 125ms instead of 2s for BQ25150

Hello,

The BQ25155 and BQ25150 are very similar devices. You can find the differences between the devices below. The BQ25155 has about 500uA higher max input Iq with charge disabled.
