LM5050-1: oring fet controller

Part Number: LM5050-1

I am using ISL6144 as + 48V Oring FET Controller.

Are the LM5050 and LM74700 competing products for ISL6144?

What is the difference between LM5050 and LM74700?
  • Hi

Yes, LM5050 and LM74700 are competing parts for ISL6144.

LM5050 has seperate Vs supply pin and can be powered from external source, or from input or from output. And it has 75V maximum rating with 100V absolute maximum rating.

LM74700 has 65V rating and 75V absolute maximum rating, and powered from input supply line. But it has higher gate drive and thus support bigger MOSFETs.

For reverse input polarity protection, LM5050 requires a diode (signal diode) in the GND path (IC GND to SYS GND) to protect itself from reverse polarity.

LM74700 does not need the diode, as it provides integrated reverse polarity protection
