I am trying to understand if the JEITA limits are a nice to have or a necessity to put a product in to the Japanese market.

TI have only a limited number of JEITA compliant devices and I see this as odd, if we launched a charger in to the Japanese market, and it isn't a laptop are the JEITA limits required?

Would Hot / Cold limits be sufficient???

Using JEITA is the end designer's choice and can depend on a variety of factors such as end equipment (notebooks etc), target market, reduction of charge current for battery safety etc. To assist we provide as many solutions as possible. BQ24610 is the HOT/COLD version of BQ24616 which is the JEITA version. They are identical apart from the TS functionality.
