TPS56637: 24Vin to 9V / 2A Output circuit optimization.

Part Number: TPS56637

Hi,

We are currently working on developing power regulation module for 9V output.

In datasheet, it only shows the feedback resistor setting as 0.6*(1+R6/R7).

To get more detail about input inductor value at 9V condition, we used Webench simulation.

So, we figured out 5.6uH and 30uF (10uF * 3) settings for output Inductor and capacitor setting.

After PCB manufacturing, 2 of 5 board was burned out (more like explosion...) after applying 24V power using battery (max 25.2V).

I followed several details about PCB guide lines, and add additional Common mode filter on 24V-Input and 9V-Output for noise reduction.

So, I just wonder which point of circuit could cause such kind of problem..

I would like to upload shcematics and layout, but impossible in chrome.

If anybody want, I can send it through e-mail.

  • 56637 can support up to 28Vin, and we did lots of validation for high and low Vout, and no burnt issue found and also no burnt return from customer, let’s review your application first, please send file to Yuchang-zhang@tidotcom. Will review tomorrow China time. And This thread will be closed first and let’s discuss with Email.
