LM3435: When LM3435 not connect any LED then chip itslef will occur the burn-out issue probabilistically.

Hi Sir,

Our customer reported, if LM3435 not connect any LED and power-on it... then chip itself occur the burn-out issue probabilistically.

Fail rate is not high, would it be normal case?

    Hello George,

    I just read through the datasheet.  It should not fail with an open LED, it should report a fault.  It is supposed to reach a maximum of 4.7V.

    What is the value of Cout1, Cout2 and the inductor value?  This is a flyback so if there is no load and the ratio of the inductor to the output capacitor is not correct it could hit absmax of the Vout to Vin voltage.

    What current are they operating their LEDs at?
