TPS65218D0: TPS65218 + AM4382: RTC Current Consumption

Part Number: TPS65218D0
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM4382,

Hi,

What is the current consumption of TPS65218 when RTC only running and powering AM4382 processor? (only Coin Cell battery power into CC pin)

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

I have forwarded your question to the device expert and he will get back to you later today or by tomorrow.

Are you looking for CC pin leakage current when PMIC is in off state or active current out of CC pin when AM4382 processor is active and running through CC pin supply?

    Regards,

    Murthy

  • Are you looking for CC pin leakage current when PMIC is in off state or active current out of CC pin when AM4382 processor is active and running through CC pin supply?

Looking for Coin Cell consumption with the SCENARIO description below (coin cell battery backup):

SCENARIO: Processor capability to maintain Tamper Supervision and RTC running using coin-cell battery backup supply.

    1. PMIC

    • STATE: OFF
    • COIN CELL: PRESENT

    2. AM438x

    • STATE: TAMPER-ONLY MODE w TAMPER RTC
    • TAMPER: 1 mesh
    • TAMPER RTC: Keep Time

  • Please refer to IQ for DCDC5 and DCDC6 in the TPS65218D0 datasheet, which has a typical value of 350nA when the coin cell is present (at CC pin) and IN_BU = 0V (no main power supply available).

For AM438x current consumption in this mode of operation, you might want to start a new thread with part # = AM438x so it will be assigned to the processor team.

  • The estimated power consumption by the PMIC is 1uW (350nA * 3.0V = 1.05uW), and the estimated power consumed by the processor RTC domain is 11uW. I cannot provide any specifics on how AM438x consumes this power on each rail (PMIC provides DCDC5=1.0V, DCDC6=1.8V). The processor team would need to provide these details.
