TPS546D24A: Pinstrap resistor tolerance

Part Number: TPS546D24A

Hi team,

What is pinstrapping resistor tolerance? And how does this device operate if the resistor value connected is between the programmed values? As an example, what if Rbot is connected to 9000Ohm resistor?

Thank you in advance! :)

  • Hi

It is recommended to use the pin strap value specified in the datasheet with a tolerance of 1%.

    Regards,

    Gerold

As  mentioned, the recommended resistor tolerance is +/- 1% about the nominal value listed in the table.

If a resistor value between those listed is selected, the TPS546D24A device will resolve the programmed value to one of the two adjacent selection values, and the selected value may not be consistent from part to part, especially if the resistor selected is very close to the mid-point of the two listed resistor values.  There is also a very small possibility that noise could prevent the internal circuitry from resolving the resistor value, which would create a POR fault.

In the even of a POR fault, boot process will be halted, PMBus will be enabled, but the output voltage will not power-up.
