Hello.

We are going to use LM74700 and have several questions about LM74700 this device:

1. Can LM74700  be used in setup provided below? What are the problems can arise here, except the power dissipation on the diode?

2. Is there an application note on how to use LM74700 for this configuration?

    Hello,

    1. There are no issues in using LM74700-Q1 with another schottky diode for ORing two supplies. When the VIN (4-36V) is higher than the battery supply voltage by 0.7V-0.8V (diode forward drop), then DC/DC regulator TPS54340 will be supplied from the VIN supply instead of battery.

    However if battery voltage is higher than (VIN-0.7V), the battery will supply.

    Note that there is range where both supplies can work together to share the load, if both voltages (VIN-0.7V) and VBAT are closer <50mv range.

    2. Application on using LM74700-Q1 in ORing supplies is captured in the datasheet application section along with component selection.
