BQ25155: What happen if Input section (IN & GND) get shorted to each other

Hi Team,

I am planning to use BQ25155 in one wearable device and there will be some pogo connector outside to charge it.

My question is what will happen if someone just shorted Pin No. A1 (IN) and Pin No. A4 (GND) to each other during normal operating mode.?

This can happen because IN & GND pin will be exposed outside.

I saw there is back to back blocking FETs to prevent reverse current flow but this will help in Input short circuit protection?

That is correct. There are back to back reverse blocking FETs on the input. When the input voltage goes below VBAT voltage + VSLP (sleep voltage), the input FET turns off preventing any reverse current flow.

Thanks for an update, but does it also confirm that if IN & GND pin will be shorted without input powered up then also Output side LDO and PMID will be in working mode?

Hello,

Yes. PMID and LDO will be powered by the battery.
