Is there a battery discharge protection function on BQ24172?
If not, which protection IC is recommended in this case?

Dear Cindy,

The Q2 FET will prevent input discharge protection from the battery. Separate protection is required from battery discharge to the load. Are you using a pack with a protector or bare cells? If you are using bare cells, I would recommend searching through the TI battery protector site below.
