UCC28180: I used the UCC28180 and UCC256303 to design a 500W power module , but it don't work.

Part Number: UCC28180

I used the UCC28180 and UCC256303 to design a 500W power module. When I powered it with 220VAC, the PFC output was only 310V, which means UCC28180 was not working. The external offset power supply is normal at 13.8VDC.Besides, the circuit of LLC don't work, could you please help me to see what is wrong? The schematic diagram and PCB are attached

  • Hello ,

In order for the pfc to startup
    (1) VCC should be greater than 12.1V
Normally VCC is set at 13V
    (2) VSENSE should be greater than 0.9V and less than 5V
    (3) ISENSE should be greater than -0.2 V and less than 0 V

Your schematic looks ok but you need to check conditions 1 to 4 above with a scope.
Perhaps one of your components is not soldered properly.
Check the GATE signal with the high voltage AC disconnected.
Also disconnect the LLC section and make sure the pfc is working properly before you apply power to the LLC

You should get maximum duty cycle gate drive with no AC power

  • Hi Jason,

It has been over a week since John gave his feedback, hopefully you have made some progress with this design.

I am going to close this post please open a new post if you have more questions.
