TPS53319: LDO output question

Part Number: TPS53319

Hi Team,

My customer wants to use TPS53319, and VCC=5V.

I noticed there is an integrated LDO, so I want to know when VCC=5V, and there is no other load connected to Vreg except RF pin via resistor, what is the output LDO voltage? I cannot get the drop out voltage info from datasheet.

Besides, when VCC=5V, would the selected frequency be different from the table 1 when Vreg=5V?

Thank you!

Gary

  • Gary,

The dropout voltage is 250mV with a 30mA load.

If the only load is the RF resistor, the voltage drop is very low and the device latches the frequency selection in the first 250us after enable.

The selected will not be different than table 1 when VREG=5V and only connecting the RF reistor

  • Hi Daniels,

    Thank you for your answer!

I suppose "The selected will not be different than table 1 when VREG=5V and only connecting the RF reistor" you actually mean  "The selected will not be different than table 1 when VCC=5V and only connecting the RF reistor", is that right?

    Thank you!

We do not specify the no-load LDO drop-out because is difficult to ensure consistent measurements.  Instead, we specify the LDO's drop-out with 30mA of load current, this represent the TPS53319 while it is converting and switching.  the Drop out is specified at less than 250mV.  The primary driver of this drop-out is the resistive drop across the linear regulator element, this drop-out will reduce with current.

Yes, the frequencies in table 1 should be accurate when VDD (Pin 19) = 5V, even though Vref will be slightly below 5V.
