LP5012: Predicting Visibility of LED in Daylight

Part Number: LP5012

Hi Team

We are making one wearable device where we need to ensure that LED should be visible in day light . I need  to calculate at what current i should drive my led  so that LED should be visible .

Can you please  suggest  us how we can ensure  this ?

  • Hi Abhishek,

I think it depends on your LED spec. LED Luminous efficiency is very high at low current. In my experience, even lower than 0.1mA could be visible by human eyes in day light for normal LED. You may need to do more test to select a suitable brightness for your application. What I can sure is the output current range of LP5012 is enough for wearable device.
