LM5020: Capacitor connected to SS pin

Part Number: LM5020

Hi,

I created a circuit using the LM5020 device.
I would like to ask about the soft start of this device.
Although it is a capacitor connected to the SS pin, 10uF is connected and the output rises slowly, so far this circuit is working without problems.
Is there a limit to the capacity of the capacitor connected to the SS pin?
Is it okay to use 10uF?

Best regards,

  • Hi Kaji@Pan,

Thanks for reaching out with you questions and for using the LM5020 in your design.

There should not be an issue using the 10 uF capacitor on the SS pin of the LM5020. The one item to check is that the leakage current of the capacitor is less than the SS pin charge current  (10uA). If the leakage current is less than this the the 10 uF capacitor should be fine. Using a good quality ceramic (X7S, X7R...) will help to keep the leakage current low.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Garrett
