CCS/BQ78350-R1A: BQ studio is not recognizing BQ78350-R1A

We are using BQ78350-R1A gauge IC in smart BMS project. We found that target IC BQ78350-R1A is not detected in BQstudio version v1.3.86.6.

Later we updated firmware version 1.04. Still BQstudio is not able to recognize BQ78350-R1A gauge IC.

Please let me know how to solve.the issue

Hi,

When you downloaded the firmware for version 1.04, there is a .bqz file included in the zip file. This file needs to be copied into your C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\config directory so that BQStudio can auto-recognize the device.

Although it is not required, it is also good to update your BQStudio version to the latest version here: http://www.ti.com/tool/download/BQSTUDIO-TEST This should include the bqz file for v1.04 firmware.

v1.04 firmware is the same firmware shipped on the R1A device.

Hi,

Thanks. Target board is detecting.

But as we are expecting that we will be able to set OCC and OCD above 32 A it is not taking any value above 32A and the bqstudio says value is beyond maximum value defined for parameter

Please suggest us for higher current setting in BQ78350-R1A

Hi,

For currents higher than 32 A, current scaling must be used. If you use the BQ78350-R2 firmware, you can use the IPSCALE parameter to scale by 10x or 100x. You must then scale all the current parameters by this amount.
