LM5069: REG || Schottky diode at output side

Part Number: LM5069

Hi,

Can you please explain the schottky diode placed at the output side in LM5069.

  • Hi Sarumathi,

During output short-circuit, the stored energy in the output parasitic inductance (PCB + cable if any) will swing the Vout node of LM5069 towards -ve and can exceed the abs max rating of the Vout pin. Schottky diode provides the freewheeling path and helps clamping the Vout <-1V.

    Best Regards, Rakesh
