Hi Sarumathi,
During output short-circuit, the stored energy in the output parasitic inductance (PCB + cable if any) will swing the Vout node of LM5069 towards -ve and can exceed the abs max rating of the Vout pin. Schottky diode provides the freewheeling path and helps clamping the Vout <-1V.
