Hi Louis,
Thanks for reaching out with your request and of using the LM5176 in your design.
Before I do the design review I suggest running through the LM5176 quick-start calculator. This will allow for you to make any necessary changes. After you have done that I will run through the review.
Thanks,
Garrett
Louis,
Looking at the quick-start calculator I have a few questions.
1. Why are you limiting the input current to 2.8A? Is this due to a limitation of the input power supply?
2. Loop compensation. Does the gross over frequency really need to be 28kHz? Lowering the crossover frequency will provide more phase margin and gain margin resulting in a more stable design.
Thanks,
Garrett
Hi Garrett
I answer the your questions.
1. Yes, Due to the fuse specifications of the vehicle, the current limit is 2.8A.
2. No, The frequency can be changed. Please suggest a RC value.
Best regards.
Hi Louis,
Below are my loop compensation values for the design
Rcomp = 4.64kOhm
Ccomp = 10nF
Chf = 680pF
This will provide a crossover frequency around 7kHz when the input voltage is 9V. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Garrett
