The application requires to change the I_limit after start up. Is it OK to switch in a resistor in parallel with R_llimit through a MOSFET?

Hi Alek,
Yes, a circuit similar to the one shown below can be used to change the current limit dynamically.
A logic-level input enables/disables MOSFET Q1 and changes the current-limit threshold by modifying the total resistance from ILIM to GND. Additional MOSFETs/resistor combinations can be used in parallel to Q1/R2 to increase the number of additional current-limit levels.
