LM5155: Application report: "How to Design a Boost Converter Using LM5155" (SNVA824)

Part Number: LM5155

Dear TI experts,

I try to reproduce the calculations in the application report: "How to Design a Boost Converter Using LM5155" (SNVA824) to come to an own design.

I equation 3 (page 3) I_supply is given with 2.985A. It's not clear, where this value comes from.

Can you please explain?

Thank you in advance and keep well.

Kind regards

Gerd Knese

  • Hi Gerd,

    Thanks for reaching out with your question and for considering the LM5155 in your design.

    Isupply is the average inductor current when VIN is equal to 16.08V. The values is calculated as below.

    ISUPPLY = (VOUT*IOUT)/VIN = (24V*2A)/16.08V = 2.985A

    Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Garrett
