BQ27742-G1: Protection Overcurrent settings

Part Number: BQ27742-G1

Dear TI,

I have a design using the bq27742-G1 and I'm noticing that I cannot change the default Overcurrent settings without my output voltage going to zero.

The schematic is identical to the provided reference schematic and the pack charges and discharges and also reads current accurately.

In the Prot OC register, if I change from the default of  10 = 18mV, both FET's seem to shutoff.  I'm using the default 5mOhm sense resistor, so changing to 00 should be a 6mV value; divided by the 5mOhm, gives a charge current cutoff of 1.2Amps.  However, as I mentioned, it shuts down completely.

As soon as I change it back to the default value, my output voltage comes back and I'm able to charge again.

Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing that is causing this behavior?

Appreciate any feedback or guidance.

Thanks,

Kevin
