LM5122: What is LM5122 Ivcc, or VCC operating current?

Part Number: LM5122

I Ivcc "operating current" the same as quiescent current for the VCC regulator in this case?

From reading some other posts do I understand correctly that the Ivcc during operation is QG*Fsw? Is Ivcc here simply a kind of "quiescent current" for the internal VCC regulator?

Thank you very much!

  • Hi Stephanie,

    The LM5122's Ivcc is determined by the external MOSFETs it drives.  Bascially,

    Ivcc = 8mA + Qg_total x Fsw

    Where 8mA is the max current taken by IC logic excluding the gate driver consumption, and Qg_total is the total gate charge of both MOSFETs, and Fsw the switching frequency.  Note that Ivcc should not exceed 50mA  per datasheet Vcc current limit.

    Thanks,
