ISO5452-Q1: ISO5452 output peak current

Part Number: ISO5452-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO5452
Hello TI
I have a question about ISO5452 want to verify with you.
In the datasheet, we can see I(OUTH) max is 2.7A, but in our design may be a little over this value, we want to know is there have any potential risk, so please help to analyze about this.

Below is our design, there have two current path when off->on, out calculate max current is about 2.93A(>2.7A), and test result is 2.358A @ 25C, 2.8A@-40C(No picture)

  • Hi,

Thanks for your question. Your photos are not showing up. Could you please upload them and repost.

ISO5452 probably could work slightly outside ABS max, but we cannot guarantee the performance or reliability outside recommended operating specs. Especially in automotive application, i have to advise against this.

So I cannot recommend you to do this. Generally, a recommendation to achieve higher current rating would be to use a bipolar-based push-pull buffer, or to choose a part with higher peak current spec (e.g. UCC217xx)

But since youre not asking for much higher current, is it possible that you are can slightly increase ext. gate resistor to drop source current a bit?

    Best,

    Dimitri
