BQ35100: Accumulated Capacity

Part Number: BQ35100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hello,

I'm currently using the BQ35100 with non-rechargeable cells on a board. I'm using the accumulator mode.

Conf A : 0x80 (same as default value)

After the calibration i'm doing a "New_Battery()" to reset the "AccumulatedCapacity".

My issue is that, on some boards the "AccumulatedCapacity" counter is increase from 0 to 4,29E9 and some times on others/sames boards it's decrease (start at 0 and roll over to 4,29E9) 4,29E9 to 0. (Same hardware, not able to charge the cells).

Regards,

Goulwen LE BOZEC.

  • We will take a look and get back to you.

    Andy

  • Hello,

Could you provide a log file of this occurring? The AccumulatedCapacity shouldn't be rolling over in this way.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi,

The only logs i can send you is this two pictures of our card logs.

In this two picture there are :

    - Accu1 : First "AccumulatedCapacity" when the BQ start (just after power up our card)

    - Accu2 : Second "AccumulatedCapacity" when the BQ stop (just before power down our card)

    - Consommation : result of Accu1 - Accu2. (because the first time I've been use the BQ35100 the counter was decreasing so i use the historical subtraction)

Picture 1 : The counter of Accumulated Capacity is increasing. First "AccumulatedCapacity" were '0' after the "NewBattery" we don't see this on the picture but you have to trust me.

Picture 2 : The counter of Accumulated Capacity is decreasing. First "AccumulatedCapacity" were '0' after the "NewBattery" we don't see this on the picture but you have to trust me.

I do use the same software and i do use the same hardware on both card. (cells are non-rechargeable and the hardware don't allow that)

I'm not using bqstudio, i'm using I2C commands.

    Regards,

    Goulwen, LE BOZEC.

  • Hi,

Here is some additional information since the last message :

See the two pictures, first is starting from 0 after the "NewBattery" then roll over to 4,29E9 and decreasing to 0.

Second is also starting from 0 after "NewBattery" then increase to 4,29E9

    Regards,

    Goulwen, LE BOZEC.

  • Hello,

Can you send the srec or .gg file for the gauges you see this occurring?

How long are you allowing it to run before you see the 12mAh change? Are you applying discharge pulses? It is hard to debug without some logging over time to see what is happening.

There may be an issue with the calibration or some noise on the startup of the gauge.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi,

Thanks for the your reply !

I can transmit you the corresponding part of the source code, is that good to you to make an analyse ?

About the two pictures, the consumption were what we wanted to find so i guess the calibration is not the issue.

    Regards,

    Goulwen LE BOZEC.

  • Hello,

Can you log just the current from your configuration? We need some kind of log to see whats happening.

If you can log the current directly with a set interval without any load to see what it reads might help with the debug.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
