BQ25898D: About Fault Status

Part Number: BQ25898D

hello,

I have three questions about Fault Status.

1. Is TREG (Thermal Regulation Threshold) a register for setting the condition of thermal shutdown of Charge Fault Status?

2. Do the following Charge Fault Status, NTC Fault Status and Battery Fault Status recharge when the Fault factor is removed?

Input fault
Thermal shutdown
TS Cold
TS Hot
BATOVP

3. Is it only to stop charging in the above Fault Status?
Will VBUS no longer regulate in BUCK MODE?
Can I read and write I2C during thermal shutdown?

best regards

  • Hi,

    1. Thermal regulation and thermal shutdown are independent functions. Please refer to 9.2.13 Thermal Regulation and Thermal Shutdown on the d/s.

    2. When a fault occurs, the charger device sends out INT and keeps the fault state in REG0C until the host reads the fault register. Before the host reads REG0C and all the faults are cleared, the charger device would not send any INT upon new faults. To read the current fault status, the host has to read REG0C two times consecutively. The 1st read reports the pre-existing fault register status and the 2 nd read reports the current fault register status.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
