BQ40Z50-R1: bq40z50-r1 vs bq76920

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76920, LM34936, , BQ40Z50-R2, BQ40Z60

Hi,

I am designing a battery management system for a 3S or 4S battery pack. Requirements are as follows:

  • Programmable cut off voltage and over voltage protection.

  • Communication over I2C bus. [All the communication over I2C bus]

  • Battery percentage, battery voltage, current reporting.

  • Battery wear out/deterioration reporting.

  • Supports 3S – 4S battery configuration

  • Over current cut off

  • Separate charging and discharging ports.

  • Even while charging the maximum output voltage should not exceed 16.8V.

  •
  • I have considered the following options for the monitoring and management controllers:
  • BQ76920 3s-5s configuration, SOC for interfacing with BQ76920 on one side and external system communication on the other side (I2C preferable) and as separate regulated port, LM34936 for regulation to a constant voltage (14.2V).
  • How does bq40z50-r1 compare against this choice in the mentioned scenario? Are there any other parts which would be advisable?
  •
