TPS61088: boost and BQ25895 in the same board and EMI compliance

Part Number: TPS61088
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895, , PMP9778

Hello,

I want to use the TPS61088 to boost the voltage of one lithium battery to 12V, and the BQ25895 to boost it to 5V and charge this battery. All this in the same board, and this board must meet EMC compliance regarding to the standard CISPR11 (Radiated Emission). Someone have experience to tell me if its possible to achieve the EMI desired levels only taking care about the good pratices of layout or if I'll need some shield in this application?

 theese chips will be used in the following way:

Normal working
TPS61088
Vin(min) = 2,5V
Vout = 12V
Iout(peak) = 1,5A

BQ25895(boost mode)
Vin(min) = 2,5V
Vout = 5V
Iout(peak) = 0,5A

Charging mode
TPS61088
Shutdown

BQ25895(charger mode)
Vin(min) = 5V
Iout = 2,5A

Thanks in advance.

  • Dear Sir,

    The TPS61088 can achieve very good EMI performance with good layout. Please refer to the layout guideline on the TPS61088 datasheet for the key component placement. place a whole layer GND copper just under the component layer helps the EMI. Please refer to the below AN and TI design  for a reference.

    TI design: PMP9778

    AN: SLVA790A

    For BQ25895, Please ask the related product line for help.
