BQ25898D: About Fault Status-2

Part Number: BQ25898D

hello,

I have question about Fault Status.

Is it only to stop charging in the following Fault Status?

Will VBUS no longer regulate in BUCK MODE?
Can I read and write I2C during thermal shutdown?

Input fault
Thermal shutdown
TS Cold
TS Hot
BATOVP

best regards

  • Hi,

A new charge cycle starts when the following conditions are valid:

    • Converter starts

    • Battery charging is enabled by setting CHG_CONFIG bit, /CE pin is low and ICHG register is not 0 mA

    • No thermistor fault on TS pin

    • No safety timer fault

    • BATFET is not forced to turn off (BATFET_DIS bit = 0)

The charger device automatically terminates the charging cycle when the charging current is below termination threshold, charge voltage is above recharge threshold, and device not in DPM mode or thermal regulation.

"Not charging" does not indicate the device does not regulate VSYS.

Thermal shutdown is to turn off the converter and BATFET when IC surface temperature exceeds TSHUT. I2C communication is still supported.

It is highly recommended to get familiar with the device operations by testing the device EVM.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
