Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ76940, EV2400

BQ78350-R1 can't be detected by bqstudio via EV2300 tool.

in my system, i use BQ78350-R1+BQ76940. when i powered my board, the bqstudio display like below:

why the bqstudio says "Auto Detected Device: None"? i checked the voltages of my board are OK.

Please give me some advice, thank you!

  • Hi,

This message means that the PC is not detecting the device. Here are a few things to try:

    • Make sure to follow all of the steps in the Quick Start section of the BQ76940 EVM User Guide
    • The 'Boot' button must be pressed on the EVM to bring the BQ76940 out of SHIP mode and then it will supply power to the BQ78350-R1
    • Measure the voltage on the REGOUT test point on the EVM. This is the pin that powers the BQ78350-R1 device
    • Make sure you are using a newer version of BQStudio. I always recommend downloading the latest version from here: https://www.ti.com/tool/download/BQSTUDIO-TEST. If you have a very old version, it might not have the BQ78350-R1 .bqz file included which is needed to automatically recognize this device.
    • Make sure your EV2300 SMB port is connected to the SMBus connector on the EVM (there are two connectors, one for SMBus, one for I2C).
    • Make sure your pull-up resistor jumpers are installed on SCL and SDA on the EVM
    • Make sure the jumpers are in place that connect the BQ78350-R1 to the BQ76940 (GG_SCL, GG_SDA, GG_PWR, GG_ALERT)
    • I am not sure how old your EV2300 is. It should work, but we generally recommend the EV2400 since the EV2300 is no longer manufactured or supported.

    Best regards,

    Matt
