TPS53316: PowerGood (PG) & Enable (EN) Functionality

Part Number: TPS53316

Does PGood de-assert if Enable is de-asserted?

It does not explicitly state this in the datasheet, but Figure50 (Turn off Waveform) shows that PGood follows Enable.

Am I correct in assuming that PGood de-asserts when Enable is de-asserted? And it does not solely depend on Vout?

  • Hello Todd,

Thank you for this valuable feedback!

Power Good Behavior is not very well defined here, we need to work on that. You are correct, PGood de-asserts when Enable de-asserts.

Behavior would need to be double checked on EVM, but PG does not only depend on Vout.

My assumption, like other device are working, if you encounter a protection feature as you can see at the top of page 6(OVP, UVP, Thermal shutdown)  then PG will de-assert.

Are you using this device at the customer? I would recommend you to look at newer devices as stated below.

    Thanks a lot!

    Best Regards,
    Dorian
