BQ24616: BQ24616 CE low then plug in adapter PG blink

Part Number: BQ24616

HI

BQ24616 schematic can work normally. If I pull CE pin low disable charge, then plugin AC adapter, charger still detect the input voltage. If the input voltage is lower than charging voltage, PG will blink and the chip will scream.

Does this phenomenon normal? Why?

Thanks

Star

  • Hi Star,

The /PG detects input source independent of the charging enable or not. Please check the charger input voltage and the /PG blink might be due to the input voltage fluctuating.

  • Hi Star,

PG will turn off in SLEEP condition, and SLEEP condition is when input voltage is within a certain range of battery voltage (refer to EC table). This is a buck charger so input higher than output voltage is required. Charger is entering and exiting SLEEP condition, causing PG to blink/flash.
