TPS40170: TPS40K compensation calculator tool

Part Number: TPS40170

The tool does not yield the correct compensation values.  I attempted to verify if I was doing something wrong by using the values from the TPS40170 reference design, but the values calculated by the Tool don't match the results on the datasheet.

  • Hello Adrian,

I noticed you did not select QTY 1 for the ceramic output capacitor entry, you need to enter a 1 for the quantity for the calculator to acknowledge it.   Also the Ceramic ESR entry should be 4mR.

    Hope this helps?

  • Hello David,

I greatly appreciate the time you took to respond.  That does help.  The values still do not match the compensation values stated on the Datasheet, but at least now the TINA simulation gives similar results to those from the Excel based calculator.  Just as a side note, and I hope this helps someone else, the TINA simulation uses 15uF and 6uF capacitor values instead of the 22uF and 10uF shown on the reference design schematic which is most likely intended to reflect the bias voltage effects on ceramic capacitors.
