TPS2663: PSpice Stimulation Parameters

Part Number: TPS2663

Hi team,

I am having a problem stimulating the TPS2663 in OrCAD Capture.

Ran it the first time and PSpice showed 'Undefined Parameters'. Particularly: "Overload_Respond", "Overvoltage_Protection", "Adjustable_Output_Power_Limit".

Couldn't find this information in the data sheet nor inside the tps2663_trans.lib file.

Can you lead me to where I can find these parameter settings?

Attached are schematics, stimulation result and first section of the provided .lib file.

Kind regards,

JR

  • Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for considering TPS2663 for your system.

These parameter settings are already defined under the device symbol (in the schematic you shared). Can you let me know which version of OrCAD  you are using?

Can you also share more details about your system and use case.

    Best Regards, Rakesh

  • Hi Rakesh,

I'm currently on the lastest 17.4. I'm integrating 6x TPS26631 to handle a power delivery solution.

    • 2 of the TPS26631s will be figured in a parallel setup to handle the current max at 15A (typical at 4A) and thermal regulation to handle a very high unknown inrush/capacitive load.
    • 4 of them will be on their own with max load to each at 5A, each typical load at 0.9-1.1A.
    • VCC will be around 10-18V.

My question regarding PSpice is, can you tell me what are my options to config the parameters to best stimulate the 26631 (with adjustable Overvoltage Protection)? I've been just typing in random integers and the results are the same.

I really appreciate your help Rakesh,

    Best Regards,

    JR

EDIT: The reason why the parameters are there is because it was reported as undefined by OrCAD so I retyped those in with some random integer values to see how it would react.

  • Hi Jonathan,

    Thank you for the details.

Can you share the PSpice file you are using to try at my end. Just zip and send the files which you started working on.

    Best Regards, Rakesh

  • Of course.Stimulating ICs-20200615T091216Z-001.zip

The PSpice simulation I got from TI's page for the TPS2663: 5037.slvmd03.zip

  • Hi Jonathan,

One observation in the file which you had sent. The Lib file was not relative. I am suspecting the LIB file was not attached to the .OPJ properly.

I have attached the same project file with proper LIB file. Note that no changes has been made in the file except for association the LIB file with OPJ. Can you please run this and confirm. ?

     Stimulating_ICs.zip

    Best Regards, Rakesh

  • Hi Rakesh,

Yes, I got it to work. Found this in the provided .zip, added the library into my stimulation settings. Works as expected.

    You're awesome Rakesh.
