LM3463: Optical Application (Scopes)

Part Number: LM3463
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3464, LM3466

We are currently evaluating the use of the LM3463 for a new project and would be interested to know if there are options (different parts or mods) for accommodating a higher VCC than 95V.  We would be interested in the highest practical voltage up to 300V while being able to regulate LED current channels.

We are also interested in recommendations on how to protect components from corrosion in the outdoor environment (i.e. along highways) – PCB will not be in a sealed enclosure.

  • Hello Lucas,

I would look at the LM3466, it has a method for higher voltage, page 11 of the datasheet.  The LM3464 also has information on this, Figure 26 page 21 of the datasheet.  The LM3464 is similar in operating to the LM3463 so it may be possible to do this with the LM3463 though there is no information regarding this.

Environment is not something we tend make recommendations on.  I would look at different conformal coatings, however if the LEDs are part of this it seems it would need to be enclosed at some IP rating.

    Best Regards,
