Hi there,

My team is interested in working with the BQ34Z100-G1 as a fuel gauge for our battery. I have some questions:
- Before using, does the chip need to be calibrated? What needs to be calibrated? What happens if it is not calibrated?

- Can this chipset provide instantaneous gauge values? ie. if I plug in a battery which is at an unknown state of charge, will this chip be able to tell me what percentage its at?

Hello Daniel,

Yes, this chip will need to be calibrated, you also need to do GPCCHEM for chemID and also need to scale the sense resistor.

Not sure why this didn't resolve your thread.

This gauge will initialize and provide RSOC if you provide a well relaxed initial SOC.

To clarify, is some initial calibration required in the factory?

Additionally, as per the question, can this gauge detect at plug in, the SoC or do we always need to provide an initial SoC?

Yes, voltage and current at a minimum. Learning cycle after a chemistry match.

Gauge will detect on POR.
