I use the LM5140 to design power DC-DC IC, Now i had desiged done , the next step i will focus on how to test this power IC , would you tell me which item i must test ? could you give me some suggestion for SMPS DC-DC test ? thank in advance for you!

What the purpose you do the dcdc? what is it used for?

normally, we will do efficiency test from Vinmin to Vinmax with Iomin to Iomax. and do the transient in this condition too.

also we will test the start up and shutdown as well as OCP.

Hi Daniel ,

I based on the TI reference design and there are many design guidelines, but there is no rated test guideline for DC-DC converter . now i focus on power test and want to make sure its reliability. so which test item do we do to make sure the power works perfectly? for exampel :bode picture

Do you have a entire test item list for us to test DC-DC converter?

we don't have the entire test item for dcdc, cause it is related to the system you used for . it is major depend on what the system requirement for DCDC.

for single DCDC , you can do below test in full temperature range, Vinmin to Vinmax, Iomin to Iomax

1. start up/shutdown

2. bode plot

3. efficiency/thermal

4. transient

5 short protection/other protection

6. load regulation/line regulation.

how do you test the three parameters: frequency, gain and phase? if there are some guideline documents for us to implement those test ?

i thinks it is better if you can offer a test method for me.

I advise for bode plot measurement you reference the document of the frequency analyzer you plan on using.
