TPS51200: Leaving power good pin floating.

Part Number: TPS51200

Hi TI team,

Can I leave power good pin (PGOOD) floating if power good functionality is not required? What does TI recommend?

Thanks,

Binayak

  • Hi Binayak,

PGOOD is open drain pin. Though it is very low risk to leave PGOOD pin floating, theoretically noise could be coupled to the pin and damage the pin.

I would suggest to pull PGOOD to VIN (pin10, 3.3v or 2.5V) via a pull-up resistor, even PGOOD signal is not used.

Sometime PGOOD signal can be used for debugging during design stage.

    Thanks
