BQ25606: BQ25606 charge query

My customer design with BQ25606, and have a query need your help.

When use input voltage 5V to charge 3 parallel cells, the state pin blinking, if increased voltage to 5.4V, it can start charging.

When remove 2 parallel cells, only charge single cell, it can charge normal at 5V input.

Why does it can not charge 3 parallel cells at 5V input?

The charger is basically a step-down DC-DC (buck) converter. It requires the input voltage to be higher than the output voltage with some headroom for normal operations. The maximum duty cycle spec is one of the factors determines the maximum output voltage at a fixed input voltage. Users should avoid maximum duty cycle operations in their applications by setting VINDPM and IINDPM thresholds correctly.
