TPS92210: 0-10V dimming ratio

Part Number: TPS92210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP6023

Hi,

I noted that the 0-10V dimming ratio is 9:1. what does this mean?

are there many methods of 0-10V dimming or is it always an isolated interface using an opto-coupler to transfer the signal to control the reference voltage?

is the 0-10V dimming circuitry integrated in our 0-10V dimming devices or always external system level circuitry?

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Hello,

I am not sure what you mean by the 9 to 1 dimming range.  I could not find any information in regards to that.  Could you let me know what document this references?

However, I found an application note that discusses how to do LED dimming with the TPS92210 that you might find helpful at the following link.

  • Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reference guide, it is definitely interesting and helpful to better understand the device.

I read that in PMP6023 reference design guide's introduction.

is 0-10V dimming only used in isolated designs?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

I believe that you could still use this technique if it was not isolated.  However, for safety it is probably the most popular.
