BQ24070: is not charging. And Charging LED issue

Hi,

We are using BQ24070 and we are facing problem.

1) The voltages on BAT pin is 4.2V but it's not charging the battery.

2) Also Charigning LED (STAT1) is constantly ON. Even when Battery is disconnected.

Please check the schematic and let me know what is issue which this circuit.

Hi Talha,

Is the negative battery terminal connected to same ground as BQ24070? I don't see it on schematic.
4.2V is the battery regulation voltage, device will not charge past that.

Hello,

The should be at least 33uF capacitance on battery pin.

Hi Nick,

Thank you so much for your quick response.
1) charging issue solved as there was protection circuit and fuel gauge and it was managing negative terminal. So we check without fuel gauge and it starts charging.

2) Now the problem we are facing is that charging LED (STAT1) is constantly on and even when IC stops the charging Battery after it reaches 4.2V. Charging full (STAT2) LED is not working even when IC stops charging the battery. (We have protection circuit also - BQ29700DSER - with Overvoltage protection 4.275V)

Are the STAT1 and 2 LEDs operating properly in other states like precharge and temperature fault?
