TPS22916: reverse current

Part Number: TPS22916

hi team,

Customer want to use TPS22916 as the load switch, they need the reverse current projection. They find the reverse current to active the RCB circuit is 500mA, that means there should be at least 500mA go reverse through TPS22916, if reverse current is less than 500mA, TPS22916 will keep conduct, correct?

To better understand this issue, could you help share the "reverse current blocking" circuit working principles?

Best Regards,

Will

  • Hi Will,

For TPS22916, you are correct. 500mA of reverse current has to flow before the reverse current blocking is triggered and the switch turns off.

The reverse current circuit block is monitoring the current that flows through the device. Until 500mA reverse current is seen by the reverse current protection block, the device will remain active and there is potential for reverse current to flow from the output into the source.
