Hi team,

I'm trying to get BQ40z80 evm functioning, I have the power supply at 8V connected between 1N and 2P with the two 1k res in between. All other connections on the block are shorted. Sys pres pin is connected PACK- on the other block. When I press the wake up button (S1) the with a load connected across PACK+/- the load will see 8V for a short time but then goes to 0V. I think I am missing something here, why is it not able to continuously discharge after pressing S1?

Hi Nick,

By default, the EVM is for a 6S configuration. If you just connect two 1k ohm resistors to the EVM and short other connections, the EVM will not work.

I would suggest you connect a string of 6 1kohm resistors to the EVM and set the power supply to 24V.

Hello Nick,

The way you have it set-up on your EVM should work for 2S simulation. However, you must also change the settings through bqStudio in order to set it up as a 2S configuration.

This can be changed in the Cell Configuration section in Data Memory->Settings in bqStudio. You may also want to read the Technical Reference Manual(Section 19.2.1.16) to see how this configuration has to be changed to support 2S.

Also, make sure you have the latest firmware in your BQ40Z80 to avoid any errors.
