TPS27S100: About the recommend diode for reverse current protection.

Hi team.

My customer wants to use the diode for reverse current protection at Vin.
Do you have any recommendations when the current limit is 4A?

"RB088LAM-60". got a generation of heat.

Could you tell me what kind of diode should they use?

Sincerely.
Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

By reverse current protection at Vin, do you mean a diode from Vin to the device?

TI does not spec this protection diode as it heavily depends on the system that your customer is running. In this case, all the application current will flow through the diode causing it to heat up. Sufficient heat sinking should also be used.

I suggest using a high current rated shottkey diode with the smallest forward voltage drop. It is also possible to use an "ideal diode" device like LM74700 and get a very small voltage drop.
