BQ27542-G1: BQ27542 Failed to Generate Chemistry ID

Part Number: BQ27542-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24773, BQSTUDIO, EV2400

HEllo TI,
Please take a reference of https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/916819 this thread, on that thread not taking reply that's why we generating new thread.

Wyatt say's, chemID matched for your battery is not a good fit because the DOD error is over 3% What was the solution on it, what i need to do ...?

In our system we use BQ27542 gauge and BQ24773 battery charger, During your relax periods the battery voltage is still dropping slightly, is there any load on the battery? Can we consider it's a load it takes 5mA at relaxing period

Did you perform any calibration on the gauge? if you are still reading current with no load your calibration may be off. Yes, we do calibration before the logging the system on rel_dis_rel cycle.

Try disabling the auto refresh when you're running your cycles to decrease the missed data, it's in the top left of bqStudio. Ohk, Can it solve my issues of No ackonologemnt error problem ...? if NO, what i need to do that because when started log some time it's show's Error: no acknowledgment  that why in the log file there is some data missing

Thanks,

Rahul

[Andy] The best way to solve this problem is to have a good ivt log file that is created based on the instruction manual.

[Andy] When the battery cell is relaxing,  there should be no load or charger connected.

[Andy]  I would suggest you use a BQ25742EVM + EV2400 to create the ivt log file.  If you see the same problem, let us know.

  • Hello Andy,

Thanks you for prompt response, it's most need to us ..

I would suggest you use a BQ25742EVM + EV2400 to create the ivt log file.  If you see the same problem, let us know.  But what about the Learning cycle, if we face same issues then ...?

I mean, what we facing the problem to complete the learning cycle is because of only the chemistry ID..? or maybe there any other issues we can face after this ..?
We need to check it before to chemistry ID finding because if there is any other issue than chemistry ID we can save much time
Issues become a time critical, i need to fix it ASAP, please help us at right direction to resolve this problem
    Thanks,
    Rahul
  • Hello Andy,

If there is any other way to make this discussion fast then we are available to You, please let us know.

     and there log file 6153.roomtemp_rel_dis_rel.csv

suggested chemistry ID not available in BQstudio default list that's why we try to execute learning cycle with 0202 chemistry ID but we facing same issues, why the cycle not going into the relaxing state and forward ..? after the discharging is hold the Discharge completed-remove load now state please take look of pic and DF file DF_Parameter_30062020.gg.csv

I need fix it ASAP, what i need to do ..? where we are doing wrong ..?please help figure out this problem and to generate a golden image file

    thanks,

    Rahul

  • The best chemistry id 225 seems okay to me since the max DOD deviation is 4.39.
I have reviewed the ivt file again. Still, I can a small current during the relaxation period. However, I guess you can use the chemistry id 225 for your learning cycle.
In addition, I can confirm that I see the chemistry 225 in the bqStudio. Please download the latest Chemistry updater here and update the chemistry library.
Besides, I would suggest you follow the app note below to do the learning cycle manually since it is much easier to find what's wrong if you see a problem during the leaning cycle.
http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua903/slua903.pdf. Also, take a look at Appendix C of the BQ27542 TRM.
You will find the most common problems seen during the learning cycle and how to deal with them.
