UA78: 1uF for input capacitor

Part Number: UA78

Hi team,

Is it ok to place 1uF for input capacitor ?

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • Hi Tanii-san,

An input capacitor has little to do with stability. It is required to mitigate any input impedance between the source voltage and the regulator. If there is high impedance in the input trace and low capacitance, the input rail may droop and this may impact regulation. The typical recommendation for the UA78 is 0.33uF but you can always add as much as needed to support the application.
