BQ25886: About unconnected battery condition

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: BQ25886

Please let me know about three points below for unconnected battery condition;

①When unconnected battery (VBUS:5V, STAT: Blink), VBAT pin occur voltage increased.

 I think that cause is VBAT pin charged capacitor, is it correct? Is there the other cause?

②Is ① voltage increase no problem?

 ⇒Is there any problem for the timing of battery connect? (ex. VBAT detection voltage slip, etc)

③What is the way to detect battery connect or not?

 Is there the other than VBAT_SHORT threshold?

Best regards,

Satoshi

    1. Your understanding is correct.

    2. This should not be an issue. Once the battery is connected, then VBAT will see the appropriate voltage and respond as described in the datasheet.

    3. BQ25886 detects a battery by activating the battery discharge source IBAT_DISCHG as described in section 8.3.3.4 of the datasheet

    I hope this resolves your issue,
