TPS7B81-Q1: Line transient and Load transient data request

Part Number: TPS7B81-Q1

Hello Team,

I'm Yuta Kurimoto TIJ FAE.

I'd like to request the line transient and load transient data of TPS7B8150-Q1.

For line transient graph about figure.6-19 in the datasheet,

Q. Can you provide the data in case of Cout=4.7uF, 10uF?

Q. Customer request the Vout ripple should be less than 50mV. How much Cout capacitance is needed?

For load transient graph about figure.6-20 in the datasheet,

Q. Can you provide the data in case of 1mA=>100mA(during 1ms)=>1mA?

Q. Customer request the Vout ripple should be less than 50mV. How much Cout capacitance is needed?

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • HI Kurimoto-san,

I checked the characterization and validation data and could not find and data for increased COUT. Increasing COUT should definitely help to lower the peak ripple. Is it possible to order and EVM and test with different Input and Output capacitances? The input capacitor will help attenuate line transients and the output capacitor will help to attenuate load transients?

Please confirm if you can get an EVM to test.

    Thank you,

  • Hello John,

    Thanks for your reply.

I can order an EVM but I can't test it due to recent work from home situation.

Customer want to decide device in within July so I would be glad if you can provide the data. If it is difficult, theoretical value is OK.

  • Hello John,

Could you please provide any feedback? Sorry to bother you.

    Thanks,

    Yuta Kurimoto

  • HI Kurimoto-san,

I have made a request for our design team to evaluate this.

Without lab access, our applications team is leaning on them more and more for simulation support.

Hopefully today or tomorrow I will have the answer.

  • Hello John,

Thank you! I appreciate your support.

    I'm looking forward the answer.

  • Hi Kuimoto-san,

    Here are the simulation results:

Load transient with 4.7uF at COUT:

Line Transient with 4.7uF at COUT:

Load Transient with 10uF at COUT:

Line Transient with 10uF at COUT:

and finally the line transient with 40uF at COUT:

So increasing COUT to 47uF or more can help, but for load transients, it may be difficult to keep the peak below 50mV.

    Does this help?
