Dear e2e support,
Some of our gate drivers such as the UCC21750 integrate an overcurrent and short circuit protection (thanks to the DESAT pin).
Do we have any trick or way to detect an open circuit failure?

Hi,
To clarify, what do you want to check if its open circuit?
You want to check if VBUS is not connected, or something else?
Since the way of dealing with an Open-circuit failure would be much different than the result of short-circuit detection which enables a Soft-turn-off and then prevents the driver from driving the output after.
My guess is that we rather want to report that to the controller rather than affect some operation of the gate driver IC, is that your idea as well?
Best
Dimitri
Hi Dimitri,
The customer needs to detected if the MOSFET failed in "open circuit".
In his end application this could cause significant damages.
